Dear Enoch Ma:
OFFICIAL LETTER OF CANDIDATURE
I am writing to you in my capacity as the General Secretary of African Community of Arts Educators (AfriCOAE) to state that your proposal for participation in THE ABETENIM PROJECT: A DESIGN+BUILD-AND-LIVE-IN ARTS VILLAGE, which will run from October 2010 - October 2011 in the Ashanti Region of Ghana has been accepted. The ARchiTecture (art+architecture) project is in partnership with AfriCOAE, FOTA and Nka Foundation, an emerging NGO in Ghana.
As noted, the Abetenim residency project will bring together a cohort of participants (who are artists, architecture, and key others) from Africa and the rest of the world for interchange of ideas and to design and build art+architecture studio cottages out of earth and other materials from the environment. The collaborations will duly commence the development of a model arts village at Abetenim, a rural setting about 15 minutes from Kumasi City. In general, there will be a local master builder and local laborers to your assistance and the cottage will be completed within six-months when the participant could move in to test-live-in own creation for additional 3 or more months according to proposal.
We anticipate a stimulating Ghana experience and hope you will come to interchange your national perspectives and professional experience with your African colleagues. We ask that you plan to arrive at least in late September and to understand that you are responsible for your air tickets, and other own costs to participate in the project. We are not able to provide any financial support for your project costs and allowances, but will assist in any possible way to make the project a success.
Again, it is a pleasure for us to work with our colleagues from diverse lands for the third year in Ghana. If you need any more documents for your sponsor, please let us know. Additional information on the project is at http://afropoets.tripod.com/eta and at www.nkafoundation.org.
We all look forward to continued collaboration with you on the project.
Prof. Barthosa Nkurumeh, AfriCOAE General Secretary and Project Director
